Unique Properties
The Oppo Enco W31 true wireless headphones stand out from mainstream in-ear headphones with an iconic design, complemented by high wearing comfort and well-conceived functions. The intuitive touch controls and a wearing detection function simplifies the operation for users. The lightweight earbuds are equipped with silicone ear tips that ensure a secure and snug fit for extended use. In connection with a compact charging case, they offer users up to 15 hours of music enjoyment on the go.

Production Technology
Oppo Enco W31 true wireless headphones render an iconic elegant impression through the utilization of materials. The main material of the earbuds and charging case are injection-molded Polycarbonate - Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene composite, which ensures the product to be lightweight with strength. An eye-catching textured aluminum plate is placed on top of either earbud, which glows metallic sheen even in distance. The ear tips are made of silicone to ensure a comfortable and snug fit.
Design Challenge
The main challenge was to seek a balance between functionality, ergonomic comfort and form. Meanwhile, the OPPO Enco design value and product identity needs to be followed.
Project Duration
The project started in September 2019 in Shenzhen, China and will be released on March 30, 2020.
Operation Flow
The touch panel on either earpiece offers users simple controls through tapping for switching tracks and audio modes, as well as activating the voice assistant. The wearing detection also enables a smoother experience: plays when worn, pauses when removed.
Research
Solid research(experience flow journey, user interviews, focus groups, etc.) were taken to find out what are the most essential qualities users expect from true wireless headphones. Through analysis, user needs have been concluded into 2 main parts: wearing comfort and simple operation, and the former has been deconstructed into detailed features: an ergonomic form factor, the position of weight balance and choice of materials, etc., all of which later became the focus of design process.
Inspiration
Through user research and interviews, key insights were identified from our targeted users: they wish the music can be comfortably enjoyed on the go for a longer period of time, especially when it comes to true wireless headphones. Having that in mind, the design team focused on the ergonomic design of earbuds through refining their configuration and reducing the weight, thus delivering a pair of headphones that are optimally suited for longtime wearing.
