Design Challenge

Considering the different demands of travelers and the product’s duration, artist Ray Teng Pai spent much time adjusting the details of the product. From designing to making, the design team not only creates original design style and art performance but also merges sensibility and rationality to realize practical value. Challenging the limit of manufacturing art and fuse traditional craft and unique conception, Ray practiced the aesthetic value of light and shadow.

Project Duration

The project started in October 2019 in Taipei and finished in March 2020 in Lishui.

Operation Flow

The footswitch is on the wire, the user can turn it on or off easily by stepping on it. When turning the glass board, the color of light will change and reflect on the wall, building a more fantastic atmosphere.

Inspiration

The design of the Linear Refraction series is inspired by the phenomenon known as the rainbow. The Linear Refraction - Floor Light consists of a circle and lines. The round glass board of the floor light projects colorful shadows that enrich any indoor environment. Users can freely rotate the glass board 360 degrees to create an array of shadows in a spectrum of shades.
