CMCC R3600H WiFi7 computing power router is a powerful network device with Gigabit dual-band, which can better match 2000M/1000M broadband users. Compared with the previous generation, MLO rate throughput is increased by 60%, edge location rate is increased by 300%, and game latency is reduced by 70%. By sharing storage, bandwidth and computing power, it improves network transmission efficiency, reduces pressure on the backbone network, and users can benefit from corresponding tariff reductions. The body adopts an ultra-thin panel design and a built-in antenna, making the appearance more concise, friendly and soft. It can be placed vertically or hung on the wall, making the home environment tidier and taking up less space.

Production Technology

Most traditional routers have external antennas. The R3600H router innovatively adopts a panel-type built-in antenna design. Relatively speaking, there are no messy external antennas and it is cleaner. It also reduces antenna costs and improves product cost performance. Vertical shape brings better heat dissipation performance.

Design Challenge

How to realize that the product can be placed vertically or hung on the wall has brought huge difficulties and challenges. At the same time, we hope to keep the appearance as simple and beautiful as possible without increasing the number of pieces and costs, without affecting the heat dissipation performance and antenna layout, and the network port and power cord must be easy to plug and unplug. Finally, we achieved this function by using a bracket with a clever snap-on structure.

Project Duration

The project will be launched in Shenzhen in April 2023 and completed in Shenzhen in January 2024. It is expected to be released in March 2024.

Operation Flow

The surface adopts a micro-arc texture that looks like roof tiles, and the line texture of the number 7 represents the high performance of WiFi7. Through a bracket, it can be hung on the wall or placed vertically on the desktop, meeting the user's needs for a clean and tidy home environment that does not take up space. Reasonable arrangement of heat dissipation holes on the back for efficient heat dissipation. The interface and buttons are hidden on the back, making it more concise.

Research

As the Z generation becomes the incremental mainstay of the consumer market, we have conducted detailed research and analysis on the Z generation. Their lifestyle habits have significant changes and characteristics compared to other groups, and we are exploring their new usage needs for home networking devices such as routers. Based on the technical characteristics of WiFi7 routers, this router has been developed to meet the needs of Generation Z.

Inspiration

Through conducting research on Generation Z, we found that more young people hope that routers do not take up space at home, are non-invasive to children and pets, easy to clean, and have good performance at the same time. Currently, most router antennas are messy, bulky, and have complex surface cooling holes that are prone to dust accumulation. Therefore, we have designed this router that can be placed vertically or hung on a wall, and it is simple and clean.

Project Overview

Cmcc R3600H WiFi7 Router has been a Bronze winner in the Communication Equipment, Devices and Apparatus Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
