Unique Properties

Urban landscape photography requires subtle height adjustments, necessitating a raisable center column. However, this prevents the camera from lowering to ground level and reduces stability in strong winds. Photographers currently need multiple tripods for different scenarios. Our goal is to create a single versatile tripod to handle various shooting conditions.

Production Technology

To ensure greater weather resistance and portability of the tripod, we utilize CNC technology to process the main components and apply anodizing to enhance corrosion resistance, making it suitable for harsh environments like the seaside. The legs of the tripod are made of carbon fiber tubing, maintaining rigidity while reducing weight.

Project Duration

The project was initiated in Shenzhen in January 2022 and completed in Shenzhen in June 2022.

Operation Flow

We designed the tripod's center column into two modules connected by a rotating locking ring. Users simply need to loosen the locking ring, then press and hold the unlock button underneath the locking ring with two fingers to separate the tripod head connection module from the center column module. After removing the center column module, they can attach the tripod head connection module to the tripod to complete the switch.

Project Overview

X284C2 Modular Center Column has been a Silver winner in the Camera and Photography Equipment Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill. Silver A' Design Award recipients are recognized for their contribution to raising industry standards and advancing the practice of design.
