Simulating the double heat sources in a traditional pizza furnace, this pizza oven utilizes the upper and lower heating tubes that support independent control, which allow for 360 degree even heating to reach 450 degrees Celsius. In this way, the product can complete the baking of a 12 inch pizza in 90 s, improving the baking efficiency. PID temperature control technology paired with sensors avoids overbake or underbake. The heat resistant pizza stone maintains a moisture level during the baking process to ensure taste.

Unique Properties

This pizza oven aims to provide users with a convenient, efficient solution to make delicious pizzas. Its pizza stone helps to reproduce the crispy bottom of traditional pizzas, while the upper and lower heating tubes paired with PID temperature control technology allow for even and quick heating, whereby the product can complete the baking process in just 90 s. The dedicated APP enables users to remotely control the oven, ensuring a smarter cooking process.

Production Technology

The well insulated product effectively prevents leakage of electricity. The pizza oven without openings boasts an IP4 waterproof rating. The temperature of the shell is always below 70℃. The air ducts facilitate convection to further reduce the surface temperature, greatly improving the safety. The window made of explosion proof, heat resistant and transparent tempered glass invites users to clearly observe the baking process, providing a more convenient and safer experience.

Design Challenge

The biggest challenge was how to integrate traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. To address that, the upper and lower heating tubes inside the oven simulate the double heat sources in a traditional pizza furnace to achieve 360 degree even heating, with the maximum temperature up to 450 degrees Celsius, greatly improving the baking efficiency. Meanwhile, the pizza stone on the bottom can maintain a proper moisture level during the baking process to achieve the best flavor.

Project Duration

The project started in November, 2023 in Guangdong, and was launched in May, 2024 in the United States and Germany.

Operation Flow

The touch screen allows users to freely adjust cooking parameters including time and temperature for personalized pizza making. It also provides four preset traditional pizza flavor modes, whereby users can effortlessly complete professional pizza baking processes. The dedicated APP supports remote control of the oven and offers diverse pizza recipes. A built-in active cooling system ensures the temperature of the shell is always below 60 degrees Celsius, so as to better safeguard users.

Research

With the accelerated pace of modern life, the traditional pizza making method, which features long time consumption and needs special equipment, fails to meet people’s pursuit of convenience and efficiency. This home pizza oven, by virtue of its pizza stone and smart temperature control system, can quickly complete the baking of a delicious pizza in just 90 s, which significantly shortens the baking time while retaining the essence of the traditional pizza baking process.

Inspiration

To enhance the convenience of use, this pizza oven can quickly complete the baking of a delicious pizza in just 90 s, which overcomes the time consuming problem in traditional pizza making. Thanks to its compact body, the product is harmonious with the home kitchen scenario. It can also be used to bake bread, biscuits, etc., eliminating the need of purchasing multiple devices.

Project Overview

Aouball Pizza Oven has been a Bronze winner in the Home Appliances Design award category in the year 2024 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
