During the process of transportation, time is very precious, so the transport boat can travel quickly on the snow, which is suitable for carrying materials on the ice. The propulsion units at the top and the tail can ensure that the transport boat can reach the scientific research station at the fastest speed.
Concept design, efficiency, convenience, scientific investigation, future
The snow transport boat's shell is made of metal, and the two skis at the bottom are made of high-strength carbon fiber, which is tough and hard to damage. The power device at the top and tail adopts the vector propulsion technology of fighter aircraft, which can effectively control the speed and direction.
The issue of function and form of a design has been troubling designers. Although this debate has been over for a long time in the 19th century, the dual pursuit of function and form has been going on all the time. How to balance the two is what we have been trying to do.
The project started in December 2018 in LAFA Industrial Design Studio and finished in January 2020 in National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Industrial Design in LAFA.
The cargo carrying part of the transport boat can be lifted and lowered by the X-type structure. When the cargo is loaded, the cabin rises and starts to move. According to the different speed and terrain, the X-type structure can also adjust the lifting and lowering and control the center of gravity of the transport boat.
More than 100 years ago, humanbeing began to explore the South Pole.At that time, arrival is a sign of success.With the deepening of the Antarctic expedition, countries are racing to build perennial research stations, and the meaning of "existence" is gradually explored. Every time the Antarctic enters the "golden season" of scientific research in summer, the ships not only transport the team members, but also transport the life and scientific research materials for the whole year.Unloading is actually an essential link in the Antarctic scientific research logistics support.It can be said that the smooth transportation determines the basic necessities of the researchers in the Antarctic.This is also what the design needs to solve.
The inspiration comes from The Antarctic penguins. They are inconvenient to walk on the ice and snow, but their heavy bodies can move forward quickly by sticking their bellies on the snow. How to make the transport equipment full of materials move efficiently on the snow? The design found the answer in penguins.
