The designer Dongjie Cao hopes to design a wall hanging storage system that can be used in multiple living spaces. It’s different from the wood structure commonly used on the wall and instead of ultra-thin aluminum material, which conforms to the modern and stylish aesthetic standards. Standardized product specifications are suitable for storage requirements in different scenes of daily life. Ultra-thin aluminum material is used as the clapboard of the shelf, and its easy to assemble on the wall with multiple size options. The clapboard can be used for wall hanging storage in different scenes.

Production Technology

Ultra-thin aluminum material is used as the clapboard of the shelf, and its easy to assemble on the wall with multiple size options. The clapboard can be used for wall hanging storage in different scenes of living spaces in different colors. For the living room and bedroom, you can choose extra leather put on the shelf to design the classic Italian style, while in the kitchen and bathroom you can choose the narrow side corresponding with some hollow groove design to put kitchen ware to create a German minimalist functionalism style.

Design Challenge

How to ensure the ultra-thin and simple design as well as minimize the weight of the aluminum clapboard and increase the load-bearing capacity is the biggest challenge in the entire design. After repeated design and testing, the main structure of the long clapboard with a wider surface use the thin front and trapezoidal hollow design in the bottom, which basically realized the original design intention.

Project Duration

Started in September 2020, finished in December 2020, exhibited in Design Guangzhou 2020 in December 2020.

Operation Flow

The main structure of the clapboard use a thin front and trapezoidal hollow design in the bottom closed to the wall, which reduces the weight of aluminum but improve the bearing capacity. Its equipped a new type of ultra-thin LED energy-saving lamp belt, which brings a more user-friendly controllable light design. The choice of diverse colors can fulfill the demands of different families.

Research

The designer Dongjie Cao hopes to design a wall hanging storage system that can be used in multiple living spaces, instead of the commonly wood structure. Looking for lots of materials in Chinese suppliers and finally found ultra-thin aluminum, which looks more modern and stylish. It uses the environmentally fuel injection process which is truly environmentally friendly and forbidden the peculiar smell.
