Iron series is a modular furniture that uses the attraction of magnet to realize the deformation and switching of various forms and functions. The table can be simply disassembled into desktop and frame without any tools. The chair can change various forms according to personal preferences to adapt to various sitting positions. The whole set of furniture can be simply accommodated through deformation, so as to achieve the purpose of saving work space. Production Technology
The wood part adopts composite solid wood material, which is solid and beautiful. The metal part adopts iron and alloy to cooperate with the magnet to realize magnetic attraction and fixation. The drawer part adopts Velcro, which can realize simple disassembly and extension.
Design Challenge
The initial design is more concise, but lacks stability, so some structures to strengthen stability are added on the basis of the initial design to achieve the best stability.
Project Duration
Designed in 2021 and completed in 2022,Okinawa
Operation Flow
The table is fixed with a magnet and can be switched back and forth between the rest table and the office table without any tools. Chairs can be deformed with magnets, such as stools, chest, toys,and there are more unknown forms waiting for users to discover.
Research
The purpose of designing this product is to enable small and medium-sized enterprises to save space and create a better working environment through the characteristics of modular furniture when using narrow offices.
Inspiration
Currently, the work space of small and medium-sized enterprises uses small offices. I think that the arrangement in the space is one factor. It is a difficult problem for SMEs because the office cannot be relocated and it is difficult to remodel. Assuming that the space does not change, it is possible to redesign the office supplies in the office and use modularized office supplies to maximize the use of the office space and make the office space as comfortable as possible.
Project Overview
Iron Modular Office Furniture has been a Iron winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
