Unique Properties
PURE is a 2-in-1 electric oral care kit that insists sustainability philosophy for long-lasting durability. PURE integrates an electric toothbrush and a water flosser to meet the needs of a wide range of users, simplifying operation and saving space. The toothbrush handle switches between toothbrush or water flosser modes by recognizing module replacements. A built-in airflow fan prevents moisture contamination of the brush head and avoids psychological discomfort.

Production Technology
The manufacturing process uses the following technologies: plastic injection and metal stamping. The product receives in some parts that compose it, the epoxy painting process. The materials used are silicone rubber, carbon steel, aluminum, magnets, stainless steel, chrome, titanium, ABS plastic, and LEDs.
Design Challenge
The innovation of this two-in-one oral care kit focuses on taking advantage of the size of the micromotor to meet people's daily oral care needs while also saving space. Through analyzing the design language characteristics of more than 30 products currently on the market, we optimized our own design language for oral care products. Besides, the challenge was also to explore and develop compact units for personal accessories.
Project Duration
The project started in May 2021 and finished in December 2021 in the US and China.
Operation Flow
This toothbrush has an on/off switch and a gear control. The user pushes the switch to turn on the toothbrush mode and keeps pushing up to blow air to dry the brush head. The water flosser head can be changed by unlocking the switch on the handle, which automatically recognizes and switches to water flosser mode. The water flosser can be used by connecting the bottom of the handle to the base. After each use, place the handle and accessories into the storage box attached to the base to complete charging and UV disinfection.
Research
We studied oral care statistical reports from China and the US, respectively. We analyzed and compiled information about the popularity and market sales of electric toothbrushes and water flossers. Based on the situation mastered from the trend survey and our understanding of sustainability design, we analyzed our target users' expectations from an oral care kit. From the perspective of visualization, we also applied the principles of marketing advertising analysis combined with market popular visual elements for rendering and layout.
Inspiration
Electric toothbrushes and water flossers have become commonplace oral care products that people take for granted in their daily lives. But considering their size and environment, the idea of combining them into one was born.
