Production Technology
Constructed by using fireproof materials and space aluminum, this series is able to work stably in harsh environments. The key module has its indicators treated by metal microporous technology to minimize light pollution. The knob module is made up of a glass cover and a stainless steel knob. The diamond texture on the knob is created by crossing knurling, which is further electroplated for a metallic lustre and can be refracted in light, spicing up the wall with a rich play of light and shadow.
Design Challenge
During the design and development process, the designers was tasked to improve the safety and protection performance of this series. The result is this rugged smart panel with a shell made of fireproof materials and space aluminum, which can function well in case of an emergency and set off prompts or alarms to alert users. When any exception occurs in smoke alarms or door magnetic sensors, this panel will trigger alarms promptly, and synchronize the information to the app on the smart phone.
Project Duration
The design and development of the panel series started in April 2022, Guangzhou. It will be introduced to the Chinese market in October, 2023.
Operation Flow
Users can flexibly control the lights, curtains, air conditioners, and other home appliances by voice commanding or using the icons that visualize the appliance running status through animation effects. The panel also allows users to narrow the control area down to a specific room simply by clicking on the floor plan displayed in the touch screen. More functions are readily available on the panel such as video intercom, security surveillance, and elevator calling.
Research
With the popularity of smart home systems, consumers expect to enjoy more functions for a smart home, along with an inclination to purchase varied smart home appliances. Contradictory to this situation is the single functional mode of the smart panels on the current market, which means they are unable to deliver various functions, unless working with other smart devices. For an instance, additional security cameras and intercom doorbells are needed for home security surveillance.
Inspiration
This series is designed to resolve the contradiction between the development of modern smart home and the limitation of using an app for smart home control. Common smart home apps are often inconvenient to operate, and fail in whole house smart control. Therefore, multiple key and knob modules are available in this series to meet diverse operation preferences, which can be replaced and attached to the screen for scalability. With varied finishes, these modules take on a rich sense of layering.
Project Overview
Smart Touch S7 Series Screen has been a Silver winner in the Digital and Electronic Device Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
