Most trophies presented in Malaysia are usually similar. Hence redesigning the trophy is crucial to create an impeccable award. This trophy is specially designed for Malaysia's G Forty Top 40 Awards. It is rewarded to influential leaders who are under 40 years old with contemporary business success. The design of the trophy incorporates the use of angels to depict the traits of a successful person.

Production Technology

The overall design of the trophy has to be high-quality and iconic. First, there is a box for the trophy. Kraft paper is used as both the cover and inner protection for the box. Next comes the second layer of the inner part of the box which is made with thick and hard cardboard. The cardboard is black in colour with a rough texture which exudes an elegant feeling. As for printing, only a stamping of the silver logo is needed. The making of the trophy involves the welding of pure alloy with an electroplated surface. From opening the first layer of the box to the unveiling of the trophy, one definitely will have an unforgettable unboxing experience.

Design Challenge

For both designs of the packaging and trophy, the main challenge is to create a unique design, which symbolises one’s glory of success. Only premium materials are used for the box packaging whereas the pure alloy for the trophy is imported from China as it is not readily available in Malaysia.

Project Duration

The project started in 13 March 2022 in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur.

Operation Flow

There are a variety of awards in Malaysia. However, the trophies or medals presented in these awards are usually similar and ordinary-looking, not leaving much impact. Hence redesigning the trophy is crucial to create a memorable and impeccable award. This trophy is specially designed for Malaysia's G Forty Top 40 Awards. It is rewarded to influential leaders who are under 40 years old with contemporary business success. This award recognises one’s accomplishments in society. Thus the design theme of the trophy is bold and glorious by incorporating the use of angels. The wings on the trophy denote one’s capability to lead and chart the course whereas the right-hand posture represents one’s gratitude. In other words, it depicts the traits of a successful person. The silver colour is chosen as it provides a sleek and unique appeal. My design adds a touch of sophistication which makes it one of a kind.

Research

Much effort and consideration have been put into the research for both designs of the packaging and the trophy itself. The overall design narrative is to advocate the success of esteemed leaders and their professional contributions to society. Hence, a memorable and impeccable award design is created to reflect one’s prestigious identity.

Project Overview

G Frothy Top 40 Packaging Design has been a Iron winner in the Awards, Prize and Competitions Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
