OLMEDO HR is presented by Olmedo on the basis of the K9 Stellantis body, featuring an innovative and unconventional concept derived from the proven high roof technology The challenge of making a passenger vehicle beautiful and accessible, albeit with impactful body work, was met with the introduction of a new construction principle that allowed for optimization of interior space as well as containment of exterior dimensions through the integration of the roof to the sides, the "HR" concept, therefore, features a line proportionate to the overall dimensions of the vehicle, with a significant reduction in the maximum exterior height. HR was designed to ensure compatibility even with full electric versions.
Accessible Vehicle
The HR prototype can boast engineering solutions to increase its ease of use and practicality, such as the innovative Twilling Twin Door, the up and over tailgate patented that eliminate the raised rear double hinged doors and offers coverage from sun and rain, finally, the polarized side and front windows make the cabin bright and friendly. No welding and tested components produced with automotive guidelines for an automotive production concept; HR is the result of OLMEDO's 70 years of experience in specialty bodywork, which puts safety and simplicity in manufacturing at its core. The one presented today as a prototype is a concept that stands as a foundation for conversions of all kinds including disabled transportation, mobile offices or mini RVs.
We started from commercial request: a compact and good-looking vehicle with great accessibility in terms of interior and access spaces that breaks down the 'accessible but ugly' binomial pinned on previous high-roof solutions.
Project started in 2020 in Reggio Emilia, Italy and will be available on 2024
Olmedo HR is a high roof vehcile designed by Olmedo to create space and accessibility suitable for a wide variety of missions including transporting people with disabilities, making a small vehicle accessible. Unique spaces and compact dimensions. The challenge of making a passenger vehicle "beautiful and accessible," albeit with impactful body work, was met with the introduction of a new construction principle that allowed for optimization of interior space as well as containment of exterior dimensions through the integration of the roof to the sides; the "HR" concept, therefore, features a line proportionate to the overall dimensions of the vehicle, with a significant reduction in the maximum exterior height.
We started from commercial request: a compact and good-looking vehicle with great accessibility in terms of interior and access spaces that breaks down the 'accessible but ugly' binomial pinned on previous high-roof solutions. During the design process, we addressed several issues: 1. find shapes that would make a tall and short vehicle aesthetically pleasing, limiting the perception of a reported component with a "hat" effect We resolve this point with a roof structure integrated with the ergonomics of the basic vehicle, complementing proportions in both directions: top and side. The roof is placed flush with the bending change to create continuity to the side curves. 2. giving maximum internal lighting while limiting production costs. we introduce side, top and rear windows with curvature in one direction only, but integrated into the main roof shape so that this limitation is not perceived aesthetically 3. maintain the internal rigidity of the vehicle by almost completely cutting off the original roof. We created a reported structural frame for both the roof and tailgate 4. maintain the functionality of the single rear door which allows maximum accessibility with a wheelchair We created a tailgate extension component integrated into the original shape with an internal structural frame and oversized gas springs We designed the interior in ABS, integrating it with the original coverings in the lateral air-bags areas
The concept idea To create space and accessibility suitable for a wide variety of missions including transporting people with disabilities, making a small vehicle accessible without modifications to the chassis or mechanical parts. Therefore, in line with what Fiat Doblò has achieved in more than 20 years of success. AESTHETICS. In order to dispel the cliché of ugly but affordable, HR puts in place a veritable styling revolution presenting a new identity that includes a streamlined glazed raised roof proportionate to the size of the vehicle and giving the prototype's styling an appreciable multi-utility car line.
