Aircraft Interior for AirJet Designs
The design for this helicopter cabin is sporty and modern, inspired by the stylistic lines of high-end race cars. Styling is centered around the design of seats, integrating angular lines and a color palette ranging from beige to greys, mixed with black with blue accents. The overall design combines several technological features that aim at giving passengers a greater sense of comfort and physical interaction, as is the case with the ventilated seat bottom and backrest. The material mix combines Alcantara, leather and carbon-fiber composite, and contributes to the sporty luxury feel.

With this project, we created a sporty, modern helicopter cabin inspired by the stylistic lines of high-end race cars. Styling is centered around the design of seats, integrating angular lines and a color palette ranging from beige to greys, and black with blue accents. The overall design combines several technological features that aim at giving the passenger a greater sense of comfort and physical interaction with the surroundings, such as for example ventilated seat bottom and backrest.

The design started with defining the layout and features of the helicopter cabin: seat arrangement, central console, ceiling lighting and ventilation unit. Overal styling orientations were then defined through the definition of a moodboard and material board. Detailed design of the cabin components were then executed with the integration of decorative trim details, lighting elements and functional controls and features.
The creative challenge was to re-think the flying experience on board a private helicopter to give passengers an upscale sense of luxury through a fusion of the latest technology and high-end craftsmanship. The production and airworthiness certification requirements were also taken into consideration during the design process to ensure industrial feasibility of the concept.
The project started in August of 2018 and finished in November of 2018.
Seats are designed to integrate an active noise cancellation system to reduce noise around the head of passengers without the need to wear headphones. Also the seat structure integrates ventilated backrest and bottom. The passenger can adjust the ventilation temperature and airflow of their seat and ceiling ventilation outlet with dedicated controls.
The project included a design trend research on similar type of helicopters and on the target audience of the product. The goal was to determine the overall design cross-industry inspirations and color scheme to favor in order for the design to have a maximum visual impact.
The design takes inspiration from high-end race car interiors, and aims at showcasing the latest available aircraft interior technology combined with luxury craftsmanship for the segment of VIP transportation. Innovative features include: -Speakers inside seat upper structure (for Active Noise Cancellation system), -Ventilated seat bottom and backrest, with personal air flow controls, -Central console with refrigerated compartment, deployable personal tablet holder, and USB charging port.
