Production Technology

The plant species and the lighting composition of each frame were designed and executed by PMA in the best way to convey the sense of human-nature connection. The Evodry effect, created with vertical lines on the surface, is achieved by applying transparent dry powder. These embossed lines resonate with the texture of the specific glass used in the making of Lucent. This design is a combination of photography and enhanced digital printing for porcelain slabs. No stock images were used.

Design Challenge

To capture the essence of light and reflection, as it was the core concept of our design collection, we had to test different glass types and lighting compositions to create the final shot in a way that clearly captures the aesthetics and features of the composition.

Project Duration

Lucent was part of a collection of ceramic products that were presented at the Building and Construction Industry Exhibition in August 2024, in Tehran, Iran. This collection included the first 6mm porcelain slabs produced in Iran.

Operation Flow

This 6mm thick porcelain slab is thinner for a contemporary look, lighter for easier handling and installation, and more efficient, maintaining strength and durability without compromise. In addition to that, the plant species, the green tones of olive and sage in the leaves, and the composition of the plants in the frame were all meticulously designed to convey a sense of human-nature connection.

Research

This is exploratory research with the objective of incorporating elements in ceramic to create a modern, nature-inspired interior design. Our focus group prepared a survey taken by one hundred architects and clients. It revealed that, firstly, light plays a primary role in modern architecture and contemporary interior design. Secondly, glass widens and lightens the space by reflecting light and passing it through, therefore, it captures a sense of peace and tranquility. Thus, Lucent was designed to transcend the qualities of a normal slab in two aspects, design and flexibility.

Inspiration

Lucent is the heart of the Lumin Collection, where every beam and shadow weaves a narrative of warmth, reflection, and serenity. This collection captures the ethereal dance of light as it graces surfaces. As rays bend to reveal the delicate green beneath, they cast fleeting patterns of life and nature's beauty.
