Production Technology

Constructed from a metal alloy frame with glass and plastic, it offers durability while maintaining a sleek aesthetic in colors like pebble grey, charcoal black and natural white. Its thoughtful hardware includes a MediaTek quad-core processor, ample memory, and various connectivity options, appealing to users seeking a distraction-free experience while engaging with essential applications.

Design Challenge

1. Industrial design - Balancing aesthetics and durability while maintaining a minimalist and ergonomic form. 2. Hardware design - Ensuring the phone uses very little battery and only has the necessary parts to keep it simple. 3. Software design - Creating a simple, intuitive, and responsive user interface despite the slower refresh rate of e-ink displays and using black and white colors.

Project Duration

We worked on the Mudita Kompakt project for four years, in Warsaw, Poland.

Operation Flow

Mudita Kompakt revolutionizes mobile technology by promoting a mindful, distraction-free experience. Its best features include an energy-efficient E Ink display for comfortable reading and essential apps like maps, a calendar, and a meditation timer that encourage focused engagement. The minimalist interface ensures ease of use, allowing effortless navigation. With a custom operating system prioritizing privacy-no internet browsing or data tracking-users can feel secure. The long-lasting battery and Offline+ mode enhance reliability, making it a trusted companion for intentional living.

Research

1. Market research focusing on digital wellbeing and user experience with technology. 2. To develop a minimalist E Ink phone that enhances digital wellbeing. 3. Qualitative analysis of user needs, market trends, and competitor products. 4. Surveys, interviews, market analysis software, and design prototypes. 5. Targeted groups include overstimulated individuals (ages 25-45) and privacy-focused tech users (ages 30-50). 6. High demand for a distraction-free device. Features like long battery life and privacy-centric design were prioritized. 7. It addresses a growing need for mindful technology use, promoting healthier relationships with devices. 8. Influences business strategies for sustainable tech products and societal awareness of digital health.

Offering a simplified, privacy-focused alternative to smartphones, it empowers users to prioritize essential functions without the overwhelm of constant notifications.
