This design can be used both as a wall and a desk lamp. In addition to these features, due to the rotation of the illuminated part in the lamp's base, it is also a great choice for sloped ceilings. The object has two light sources: one with low intensity, suitable for use as a nightlight or for creating a semi-dark environment, and another light source beneath the lamp, ideal for reading or illuminating a space.

In the construction of this lamp, to achieve the designer's intended feel of old lamps, an opaque glass globe and a wooden base were used. The base is made using the lathe turning technique. A 2 cm diameter rod connects the globe to the base, and the globe rotates 360 degrees around the axis of this rod.
The main challenge in designing this lamp was the client's request to add a lamp with a new design but an old-world feel to their products. Since the client was a manufacturer of wooden lighting and furniture, the designer faced limitations in using various materials for the design of this lamp.
The project finished in October 2024 in Tehran, Iran.
The initial idea for the firefly lamp was shaped through a design order for a lighting suitable for hotel spaces. A lamp that, while being functional with controllable light, creates semi-lit spaces ideal for hotel rooms, while also being distinct and unique in form. This object can also be used as a light for sleeping or reading. However, its primary function is to enhance the quality of life in the surrounding space.
The firefly lamp is a research project aimed at discovering and recreating light-producing elements in architectural spaces, evoking a sense of place in Iranian and Middle Eastern architecture. The form development process moved towards creating a design that, without repeating the common decorations of traditional light-producing elements, would achieve a form with an old-world feel but with a new design. Ultimately, the choice of materials, along with the ability to rotate and control the light, are additional factors that have helped the designer create an Iranian-inspired form.
Firefly is the name of an insect that are light emitting, and also refers to something that shines in the darkness. It is a luminous object that illuminates its surrounding area, creating a unique identity around it.A firefly is reminiscent of old lamps that were used as luminous elements in indoor spaces before the invention of electricity and light bulbs. These lamps created a limited, low, and localized light in the space, with each one giving meaning to a corner of the environment.
