Coffee Table for QZENS Furniture & Design
The middle tables that used usually take place in the middle of the spaces and cause difficulty with the approach problems. For this reason, the service tables are used to open this gap. In order to solve this problem, Yılmaz Dogan has combined two functions in the design of Ripple and developed a dynamic product design which can be both a middle stand and a service table, which travels with an asymmetric arm and moves in the distance. This dynamic motion coincided with Ripple's fluid design lines reflecting from nature with the variability of a drop and the waves formed by that drop.

Ripple has all characteristics of a static coffee along with a dynamic structure and function of a service table. While meeting the changing needs, it naturally reflects the grace of a splashing water drop. Thanks to its asymmetric arm structure, the service platform that can rotate 360 degrees can serve all planar directions on a single axis.

Ripple can be produced by modern technological tools and CNC machinery. Thanks to metal structural elements, natural massive wooden body and upper table materials such as massive, laminate, glass and marble, it can be produced in great diversity. The main body is designed as lacquered on MDF. Wave patterns can be prepared by the help of CNC processing units. The carrying eccentric rod will be produced from hardened transmission steel and will be supported.
The most difficult part of this process was to construct the carrier eccentric arm of Ripple, the main character of the moving table. The part made of special hardened transmission steel will be assembled from the bottom of the table by the bearing system and will thus integrate the system.
The sketches of the project were first prepared and designed in March 2015. It was re-interpreted in January 2018.
Thanks to its asymmetrical arm structure, the service table which rotates 360 degrees become different by moving from its stable position. Ripple starts with the movement of a lake surface by the effect of a drop of water and its dampening and returns to its former serenity. RIPPLE creates an aesthetic and functional experience by embodying different functions with the purpose of harboring reflections like a dynamic work of art rather than a coffee table.
The design structure of Ripple is inspired by the leap of a drop. The process of a water drop disappearing, becoming still and returning to self after the splash is the reflection of Ripple's dynamic and static character. Ripple, as well, starts a motion by the help of its moving table than turns back to its stillness.
Coffee tables situated at the core of spaces usually fall insufficient due to their approach problems, which is a gap to be filled by service tables. Ripple can cover a distance with its moveable upper table and the asymmetric arm carrying it, offering the function of a service table, as well. Such dynamism coincides with Ripple's fluid design lines and the variability of a water drop and its waves.
