Production Technology
The design uses PROE to build a 3-dimension model, use CNC to process stone material and use polished fire for surface treatment.From the perspective of industrial design, "the grand" creatively combines luxury stone and tea tray design with the CNC machining technology. and skillfully realize the function of the tea tray to drain water by the precise calculation of geometric surface form 3.5 shelving. The main body of "the grand" is made of black stone, which is embedded luxury stone according to the rules of the golden section, looking exquisite and breaking through the visual imagination.
Design Challenge
As the hidden outlet is inclined to open slot, CNC machining is difficult to realize itself. But combineing with some manual processing operation would solve the problem perfect.
Project Duration
The design began in xiamen in April 2017 and completed in December 2017.
Operation Flow
The teapot is usually placed high and the cup is placed low while making tea. So as to the tea water will flow from high to low through the gradient of the disk height, which provides convenience to use.
Research
By studying the process of traditional Chinese tea brewing, the high and low gradient of the tea tray is designed to match the users' daily behaviors and to achieve the goal of natural interaction. As a better kind of natural material for tea disk carrier, stone is more waterproof and wear-resisting than others.
Inspiration
Luxury stone, high-end, scarce, unique, shining with the spirit of jewel. The main body of "the grand" is made of black stone, which is embedded luxury stone according to the rules of the golden section, looking exquisite and natural picturesque, breaking through the visual imagination and emanating from the inside out noble sense.

The Grand Tea Tray has been a Iron winner in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design award category in the year 2019 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
