The tea tray is composed of natural black stone plate and metal (made of aluminum) water storage chassis, the thickness of disk surface is only 1.6cm. The planesurface part highlights strength and the concave highlights soft,In terms of use, the plane is the "dry" area and the concave is the "wet" area, which skillfully realizes the dry and wet separation. At the same time, the horizontal position of the concave surface is just 3/4 of the height of the metal water tray. so you can intuitively see the tea can be spilling from the drainage hole, reminding the user to dump the tea.

Unique Properties
The tea tray is composed of a black gold surface and a metal(aluminum) water-storage chassis.The horizontal height of the concave part of the disc surface is exactly 3/4 of the height of the metal water-storage tray. When the water capacity reaches 3/4, the tea will overflow from the drainage hole, thus prompting the user to pour the tea.One side of the tray surface is used for making tea, and the other side is used for placing cups to achieve the function of separating wet from dry.

Production Technology
Black gold stone is a natural material.It adopts CNC processing technology.The metal (aluminum) water-storage chassis adopts die casting technology.
Design Challenge
The concave surface design of Black gold stone is content to the aesthetic requirements and has higher drainage efficiency. It also has the prompting the water-storage chassis water level function.The accuracy of stone CNC processing is not higher enough. It is need to use comparing the error data method and by adjusting the design to make up for the deficiency. Compared with other materials, stone itself is brittle and easy to crack during CNC processing. So we need to study the limit of stone processing and the maximum data.
Project Duration
The project started in March 2019 in XiaMen and finished in May 2019 in XiaMen, and was exhibited in ShangHai in September 2019.
Operation Flow
Users can make tea on Black gold stone tea tray. The design of the Tea tray drainage area divides the tray into two functional areas. Users can make tea in the area with concave surface. Tea cups can be placed on the other side of the tray that a More gentle side to achieve the separation of wet and dry. When tea comes out of the drainage hole, the user can put the tea tray on the table and then pour out the water storage chassis tea .
Research
The existing stone tea trays are more bulkier, it not easy to moved . and it more suitable to use for professional tea-making space, the use of the scene is relatively limited.Using observation method and data analysis method to research the user's tea-making needs, behavior habits and product processing technique, it to define the use function and appearance of the product. Through the simple and different materials to combine, and to achieve product diversity changes and light-simplicity design style, so that products not only is content to the use and aesthetic needs of more people, but also can be integrated into more use scenarios.
Inspiration
The existing stone tea trays are more bulkier, and more suitable to use for professional tea-making space, the use of the scene is relatively limited. So we hope that we can design a stone tea tray is simplicity , fashionable style, lightweight. Through the simple and different materials to combine and to achieve product diversity changes, light-simplicity design style, so that products is content to the use and aesthetic needs of more people, it also can be integrated into more use scenarios.
