Production Technology
This design was created by hand drawing followed by CAD tech drawing. Its realization consist in laser cutting and welding technology, and finished by thermo resistent powder coating paintingover its main material, carbon steel.
Design Challenge
The biggest challenges in the Vortex design process are related to the need to develop a fireplace that at the same time fulfills its main function, heating, but without ever neglecting its aesthetic and sustainable aspect, fulfilling all the legal requirements for integration in public and private spaces.
Project Duration
The project started in October 2018 in Porto and finished in March 2019 in Porto, and was exhibited in Shelter - New Showroom Presentation in March 2019.
Operation Flow
Voetx presents two different combustion solutions: Traditional Wood and with a Bioethanol Automatic Burner. Bioethanol Vortex are a equipment that combine design with the comfort created by the real flame, with the added value of not emitting smoke, they do not create ash or smells.
Research
Most of the research carried out in the conception of Vortex, concerns the legal aspects and certification of fireplaces to be integrated in public and private places. As for the research related to design, it was carried out in order to develop a wood combustion product, in which it is possible to insert an automatic Bioethanol burner. With regard to its visual aspect, Vortex is inspired by the strength of a black hole to suck all the material within reach, resulting in its asymmetrical shape.
