This design is guided by the strings, and the string-shaped steel tubes and the annular outer contour meet to achieve visual and auditory synaesthesia. The furniture brings visual and tactile enjoyment to people, and at the same time, there seems to be a melody flowing in the heart. Compared with most of furniture materials, metal has higher cost performance and more environmental friendly. Taking white steel as the prime material for production, the metal pipe is bent and combined, which is light and concise.

Production Technology

The material is mainly made of metal wire, which is environmentally friendly and suitable for bending processing. Compared with 201 white steel, 304 white steel has stronger corrosion resistance and is undoubtedly the first choice for outdoor use. The process of making the material is relatively simple. It is composed of blanking, bending, firing, stretching, springback, welding, polishing and so on.

Design Challenge

Make the metal wires connect and combine regularly without rigidity, and ensure the comfort and functionality of the product on the basis of using only one element.

Project Duration

The design had started in Shenyang in March 2021, completed in Shenyang in June 2021, and displayed in the museum of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June in 2021.

Operation Flow

It is suitable for leisure and entertainment. It can sit with feet hanging or knees bent. It is a suitable choice for reading, drinking tea or rest and play. In addition, the material of the product is 304 white steel, which is hard and corrosion-resistant, simple and light, low-key and shiny color. It is also the first choice for outdoor leisure.

Inspiration

The design inspiration is based on the strings, and the metal wire is selected as the raw material, and the shape is polished to make it more suitable for the sitting posture of the human body and more comfortable to use. Together, there is a beginning and an end.

Project Overview

Strings Leisure Chair has been a Bronze winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
