New Chinese Furniture for Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts
This new Chinese furniture design includes Chinese chairs, Chinese cabinet shelves, Chinese flower stands, and Chinese palace lamps. Combined with the eaves elements of the Chinese architectural structure, the furniture innovation is carried out through the formal language of modern furniture, so that the mortise and tenon structure and the cornices design echo visually and structurally, and the choice of black walnut makes the dark wood and the soft curve of the cornices form a sharp contrast and harmony, so that the traditional Chinese furniture design glows with new vitality.

Combine cornices with a modern, minimalist design concept. Let the Chinese architectural style naturally integrate into the Chinese furniture, which not only maintains the traditional aesthetic characteristics, but also loses the simplicity and comfort of modern aesthetics. Combining black walnut with traditional mortise and tenon structures, its natural materials and delicate craftsmanship present a delicate, elegant and culturally rich furniture form.

It is mainly made of North American black walnut, is processed and formed by raw material selection and treatment, design and cutting, mortise and tenon structure treatment, carving, surface polishing and finishing. The traditional mortise and tenon joint structure used as the main connecting structure, and through the mutual integration between the woods, it reflects the ingenuity and exquisiteness of the mortise and tenon joint technology, has strong stability and durability.
The design of the cornices series comes from the design elements of the cornices in ancient Chinese architecture, which represent the combination of spatial extension, structural strength and natural aesthetics, but also faces the challenges of balancing function and aesthetics, the complexity of the production process and market acceptance.
The design had started in Shenyang in January 2024, completed in Shenyang in June 2024, and displayed in the museum of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts in Shenyang in June in 2024.
Chinese style seating provides the function of rest, and Chinese flower racks are used to place potted plants to enhance the natural atmosphere of the space. The Chinese palace lamp provides lighting and creates a warm and simple atmosphere, while the Chinese cabinet rack is used to store items and has decorative functions. The series of furniture through the integration of aesthetics, craftsmanship and cultural connotations, jointly build a space with traditional charm, modern comfort and unique artistic atmosphere.
This design is inspired by the elements of ancient Chinese architectural cornices, through the application of black walnut material and mortise and tenon structure, the cornice series furniture not only has stability and durability, but also highlights the aesthetic characteristics of Chinese design, by integrating traditional Chinese elements into modern homes, creating a Chinese-style home artwork with a sense of the times.
Cornices are cleverly applied to the form of the furniture. The cornice design is derived from the eaves of ancient Chinese architecture, symbolizing elegance and freedom, which can make the whole furniture more three-dimensional and dynamic. Through the integration of this traditional Chinese design element, it not only strengthens the visual layering of the furniture, but also further shows the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
