The Conequeror Lamp translates the dark side of primitive culture into a minimalist 3D printing conical shape. It blends parametric design with cutting-edge LED technology to cast a modern poetic glow, offering an emotional experience with the ability to transform into 13 different colours which project three different patterns. This portable masterpiece brings a sense of protection atmosphere wherever it goes, turning any space into a haven of tranquillity.

Employing a parametric approach in its design, this concept demands meticulous attention to detail, necessitating an elevated level of precision during both the production phase and the iterative exploration of mock-ups to attain the desired outcome.
The project started in June 2023 in Hertfordshire, United Kingdom and finished in September 2023, and was exhibited in University of Hertfordshire in October 2023.
This portable lamp lets the user customize the colour based on their mood, through remote control or phone application. The light will create interesting projections of parametric patterns surrounding them and can be used indoors and outdoor.
The research began from prevailing negative association in contemporary society about primitive tribes. The Conequeror Lamp intents to devise innovative design approaches that change this negative perspective, to reach a deeper understanding about the artistic context of primitive arts by making seamless integration of traditional masterpieces within contemporary, technology-driven framework of products. There are three different patterns, including jungle, river, and tree which are translated into a modern design. In the interplay of light and shadow, the purity of the white cones become a transformative force, illuminating the profound essence that resides beneath the surface.
Crafted to redefine the essence of primitive in a contemporary context, this lamp draws inspiration from primitive life and Mbaru Niang, one of the Indonesian traditional houses. Mbaru Niang is the epitome of architectural structures featuring conical houses constructed from natural materials such as woven rattan, bamboo, and wood. This conical shape is then redefined by a parametric approach which symbolizes primitive nature, encapsulating a synthesis of tradition and contemporary ingenuity.
