Moreover, the chair designed based on ergonomics improves comfort of use while ensuring visual appeal.
rattan weaving craftsmanship, modern design, natural material, high mountains and flowing water, an integration of traditional and modern elements
This chair adopts premium Indonesian rattan that is waterproof, durable, and pliable with a soft luster and unique textures, achieving a refined style and rich visual effects. The superb techniques are used in material selection, steaming, hot bending, shaping, polishing, painting and other multiple manual processes, which equip each finished product with delicate details, a comfortable touch, and good load bearing performance, bringing visual and tactile enjoyment for a better user experience.
The challenge was how to integrate the natural material, traditional craftsmanship, and modern aesthetics. To address that, the design team, breaking away from stereotyped designs in rattan furniture, has created a new rattan chair form by using minimalistic, dynamic curves to mimic the soft and graceful brushstrokes in Chinese landscape paintings. The product, while pursuing visual appeal, takes into account comfort and stability, striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality.
The project started in Beijing in January 2024 and completed in June 2024.
The rattan chair prioritizes user experience and makes optimization based on ergonomics. It features fluid lines and is meticulously polished to offer a delicate, smooth touch. The height of the armrests, the stability of the legs, and the curvatures of the seat and the backrest have all undergone numerous tests. In this way, the chair can perfectly fit the human body and provide excellent support for the waist and back, while also boasting high stability, ensuring a comfortable experience.
Rattan is pliable and expressive. Thus, rattan chairs can showcase natural flowing dynamism through the ingenious combination of rattan lines. This product marries traditional rattan weaving craftsmanship with modern design concepts, which utilizes the natural material to reproduce the ethereal mountains and water in Chinese ink paintings. As a result, it achieves a simple yet elegant aesthetic, able to harmonize with various indoor and outdoor environments.
The chair, inspired by high mountains and flowing water in traditional Chinese ink paintings, utilizes understated, pliable natural rattan to outline rolling mountains and flowing water through smooth curves, bringing to mind a lively, graceful, and magnificent scene of mountains and water intertwined. This not only creates a serene atmosphere for users to relax, but also embodies a perfect fusion of cultural inheritance and modern innovation.
