Lighting for Alter Ego Studio
The shape of the lamp Capsule repeats the form of the capsules that are so widespread in the modern world: medicines, architectural structures, spaceships, thermoses, tubes, time capsules that transmit messages to descendants for many decades. It can be of two types: standard and elongated. Lamps are available in several colors with varying degrees of transparency. Tying with nylon ropes adds a handmade effect to the lamp. Its universal form was to determine the simplicity of manufacture and mass production. Saving in the production process of the lamp is its main advantage.

This LED lamp can be of two types: standard and elongated, depending on customer requirements and the interior design in which it will be located. Lamps are available in several colors with varying degrees of transparency. The effect of a toned plafond allows to create a softer light, while transparent lamps give a lot of bright light and are well suited for public spaces. Tying with nylon ropes adds a handmade effect to the lamp, as if the owner made the lamp himself.

For the lampshade, depending on the model, different types of glass are used. Their light transmission varies from completely transparent to almost opaque. Inside the upper part, a small round-shaped LED lamp is installed in a socket tightly fixed to the walls of the plafond. Threads made of nylon tie the upper part of the plafond and inside them passes a wire that feeds the light source.
We tried to create an inexpensive lamp, easy to manufacture and with interesting lighting, which together would make it unique. Its universal form was to determine the simplicity of manufacture and mass production. Saving in the production process of the lamp is its main advantage. We devoted some time to choosing the optimal color for the shell and determining the degree of transparency of the glass for specific models. We also thought of two forms to cover as many use cases as possible.
Design of the Capsule lighting was developed in March 2019. The start of production is planned for Autumn 2019.
Due to the simplicity of the shape and components, the Capsule is easy to transport, and replacing the bulb in the lamp or disassembling it into individual components will not be a difficult task. The plafond consists of two parts: in the upper half is the light source and its mount, the lower half is screwed to the upper one on the thread.
Modern architecture in most cases is more a construction than an object of creativity. Meanwhile, scientific research suggests that forms with the presence of only straight edges contribute to the concentration of internal forces, tension and negative feelings. Cubic-shaped buildings give the person a gloomy focus and lack of positive emotions. In a world filled mainly with rectangular and cube shapes, the rounded shapes of the lamp should bring harmony and comfort to the space of a house. In addition, the Capsule allows the use of a wide range of colors, in various sizes. We took these aspects into account in our design and, adding a handmade effect through nylon threads, supplemented it to create a unique interior item.
The shape of the lamp repeats the form of the capsules that are so widespread in the modern world: medicines, architectural structures, spaceships, thermoses, tubes, vases and, of course, time capsules that transmit messages to descendants for many decades. The round shape of the capsule has a beneficial effect on the human psyche, soothes and relaxes him. It is no coincidence that in the fields of medicine and spa often sleeping chambers are also performed in this rounded oblong form. Developing the concept of the lamp we sought to recreate this aesthetic effect.
