Nido lounge chair design goal was the concept of visualtization of relax and comfort of the outdoor space. I wanted to create one product that provide the idea of comfort just looking at it, a product to inspire wellbeing and good life. I thought life outdoor should be about leisure, and leisure is a full experience. The visual part is an integral part of that experience. Therefore, I thought how to simplify the structure of the product in order to minimize the use of elements.

Unique Properties

Nido lounge chair design goal was the concept of visualisation of relax and comfort of the outdoor space, by creating one product that provide the idea of comfort just looking at it, a product to inspire wellbeing and good life. Focus concept is that life outdoor is about leisure, and leisure is a full experience. The visual part is an integral part of that experience. Moreover the research on the simplicity of the structure of the product so to develop a minimal design but with iconic aesthetic.

Production Technology

Product frame is made of thick aluminium tubes, welded and brushed in one single point. Soft stripes are hand woven through a aluminium structure of thin tubes.

Inspiration

Lodovico Bernardi studio draw inspiration from the traditional sun-lounger that can be found on the shore of many Italian beaches. One of the most successful example of simplicity and representation of comfort for the outdoor furniture world. The design challenge set by the studio was to give a stronger design identity and more refined appearance including more sophisticated materials.
