3D designed shapes have extremely thick glass with a small bubble for water that is created with a rare Scandinavian steamstick technique. Rainforest vases are shaped by hand from blown glass, signed and numbered.

Pieces are 3D modelled, shaped from hot glass and blown with a steam stick. Each piece has a unique color play inside the glass.
The challenge in the objects was to create heavy objects that appear light. Collection mimics the natural movement of water and tree leaves. The challenge in the process was to find the perfect flow for the colors, so that the appearance is remains fresh. For this a new way to apply liquid like color on hot glass was found during the process.
The project started in May 2019 in Helsinki Finland. Rainforest collection was exhibited in Dubai Design Week 2019.
Glass is a medium that can be weightless and strong in the same time. The medium used is solid glass. Therefore it reflects the world around it like a lens. When the glass is illuminated, the shadow looks like water.
The collection aims to create vases that have unusually thick glass as their material. The space for inner part of the vase is minimized. Almost hidden. This makes the vases appear voluminous, yet light. The philosophy of the objects is to give only a small space for the plant that is put in the vase, for highlihting it.
Rainforest is inspired by the reflections of nature. The contrasts in nature and the way they create harmony is the main theme in the collection that aims to capture the serenity and wildness of the water. The rhythm of the glass making process ensures that each object has a unique play of color inside the glass that mimics the movement of the waves. Glass creates vivid illusions in thick material that come to life when the object is illuminated. The shadow and the reflections are important part of the objects.
