Multifunctional Table for NODA DESIGNS INC
The HQ can be used as a dining table and an office desk with a removal divider screen. It assembles by interlocking the panels into place without any screws or nails. The HQ is made from Baltic birch plywood, each panel was cut using a CNC machine. It comes in three different colours: Teal, Hot Pink and Neon Yellow and ships in a flat pack.

Production Technology
We are using ecofriendly MDF alternative Ecoboard, also known as Wheatboard, the next generation of MDF fiber board. It is completely environmentally friendly. Ecoboard is made of 100% high-quality natural wheat straw, not wood. It is comprised of agricultural fibers that are left-over after harvests, by-product that is usually disposed of. The assembly is tung and groove (interlocking) method to allow for easy home assembly. CNC cutting is used for the grooves/design pattern. This product does not use any screws and the paint on the screen/panel is magnetic and ecofriendly so that you can put your notes up etc. We particularly liked the idea of old school carpentry ( similar to dove tail detailing) and the practicality of the multifunctional features that it has. There are storage space within the table which allows for office stationaries such as pens, pencil, paper clips, and the cords for the computers and phones are neatly tucked away within the cut out hole.

The hardest is actually spraying the magnetic paint in an ombre look.
Project Duration
The project started in September 2020 in Toronto.
Operation Flow
The HQ accommodates multi workers with a removal separator, it has grooves to fit supplies, a storage system, space for all those pesky cords and it’s coated in a space-age magnetic paint so notes never blow away. Then when work is done (hooray), the HQ sits 6 people, maybe 8 depending on your distancing strategy. Compact enough for condos, easy to assemble, and affordable for all. Great colors, awesome features, and an understanding of the modern world, where work and life are beautifully blurred as one.
Research
In a world where home sizes were already dwindling and our ideas of working and living have been constantly redefined, the boundaries between work and life were drastically altered by the pandemic. Work/Life has a whole new meaning. Stuck at home, so many unknowns, living/working all in the same space. If ever there was a time for good fun design, it’s now. We decided to design a multifunctional table for smaller homes so that their space is not cluttered and wanted to give the feel of a well made product, ecofriendly, affordable and yet design focused. We used very simple design elements with easy installation assembly and at a price that is affordable.
Inspiration
During this pandemic, we realized that most people are frustrated with living and working from home and most of the time they complained about having their partners/spouse being always around them even during working hours. We thought what best idea to make a product that is truly multifunctional and yet give them some privacy during working hours - hence the emergence of the HQ. We wanted a desk that ticks all the boxes in terms of a work office set up but also great for evenings for dining.
Project Overview
The HQ Multifunctional Table has been a Bronze winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2020 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Bronze A' Design Award is given to outstanding designs that showcase a high degree of creativity and practicality. It recognizes the dedication and skill of designers who produce work that stands out for its thoughtful development and innovative use of materials and technology. These designs are acknowledged for their professional execution and potential to influence industry standards positively. Winning this award highlights the designer's ability to blend form and function effectively, offering solutions that enhance people's lives and wellbeing.
