Production Technology
THE FELLAS light source is made of one-piece molding process, which reduces breakdown of product, removes complex assembly steps and saves human cost. At the same time, the shell material comes from recycled plastic, without introducing new materials. In addition, users can customize the shape and color scheme according to the environment and atmosphere, meeting the diverse indoor lighting needs and increasing the artistry of the space.
Design Challenge
The light source substrate made of flexible materials and the soft linear light source not only improves the energy saving effect, but also can simulate the 360° lighting effect of the uniform, soft and glare-free solar spectrum. Meanwhile, THE FELLAS also think of the health of lighting, its anti-blue light source effectively protects eye health of the users, and the color rendering close to natural light and its wide-area light distribution creates a pleasant atmosphere.
Operation Flow
THE FELLAS can be interconnected with the background of scene light control system and smart home, which can automatically adjust the color temperature and lighting mode through AI according to different living scenes, and users can also adjust them through APP and switch. The product adopts the convenienct snap installation method. The body can be adjusted by 8-degree after assembly, making the installation more flexible and the scene more adaptable.
Research
Light is a key factor in determining the interior environment and an important way for people to experience it. For traditional ceiling lights on the market, the shape homogenization is serious, which cannot meet users' demand for quickly changing aesthetic trend. Besides, the eye protection function of most ceiling lights is still in the initial stage, and there exist some problems such as glare and overflow of blue light.
Inspiration
The design inspiration for THE FELLAS is derived from the exploration of indoor lighting art. The design team adopts a suspended light source structure, redefines indoor lighting with linear light source, breaks the stereotype of users about ceiling light, and provides users with a lighting solution which better accords with the modern lifestyle and brings innovation and attractiveness.
Project Overview
The Fellas Bulb has been a Iron winner in the Lighting Products and Fixtures Design award category in the year 2021 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
