Production Technology

The seat is made of foam and upholstered in fabric. The frame is made of natural ash wood. At the request of the user, the modules can be equipped with a USB socket or a table. The plinth can be either wooden or covered with upholstery fabric.

Design Challenge

When creating the Plump collection, it was necessary to take into account that the combinations are suitable both for large open spaces and when using a minimum number of modules or even one module. This need dictated the shape of the modules and their dimensions.

Research

The Plump collection was designed based on a simple study that aimed to identify the common problems users face during the waiting process in public places. The study revealed that users often face a lack of seating space and uncharged gadgets and phones. To address these issues, the Plump collection was created, offering ample seating space for every user and built-in charging points for their technology.

Inspiration

The Plump collection draws inspiration from the elegant simplicity of geometric shapes, resulting in a design that marries functionality with minimalist aesthetics. The form has been thoughtfully crafted to eliminate any unnecessary distractions for users and provide maximum comfort. With its sleek and refined design, the Plump collection offers a timeless seating solution that is both functional and stylish.

Project Overview

Plump Modular Seating has been a Silver winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2022 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill.
