Production Technology
The toothbrush features an integrated surface with a vacuum plating treatment commonly used in the automotive industry. It is equipped with a full drive magnetic levitation motor to provide vibration power based on pressure. Additionally, the CJOY iSense toothbrush has a circular navigation light on the top that displays the operation status with different colours and movements for better intuitiveness.
Design Challenge
The CJOY iSense electric toothbrush is designed to eliminate the need for buttons on the body. It operates without the traditional on/off and gear change buttons and instead uses grip sensing to turn on and off. Moreover, it automatically adjusts to the pressure the user applies, making it suitable for sensitive teeth cleaning as well as deep teeth cleaning. This innovative design caters to the diverse needs of different users.
Project Duration
Research and development of the product started in Shenzhen in April 2022. It is launched in China in June 2023.
Operation Flow
CJOY iSense uses a Without Thought interaction mode that adjusts the vibration intensity according to the pressure applied by the user. Users can lightly brush for sensitive spots, making the toothbrush vibrate gently and reducing irritation. For key areas, users only need to apply pressure to output strong power for deep cleaning.
Research
Common electric toothbrushes on the market generally use physical buttons, which have the potential for ageing and water leakage. The fact is that users refrain from frequently switching gears when brushing. They usually use one gear to clean the entire mouth, resulting in improper care for each tooth. Based on the actual use data of hundreds of users, the design team has developed the iSense system that changes with the power.

Personal daily care has become increasingly popular, so oral hygiene issues are being taken more seriously. Many people prefer electric toothbrushes because they are more convenient, comfortable, and efficient than traditional ones. CJOY iSense stands out from other electric toothbrushes on the market due to its buttonless, integrated, and manoeuvrable design, providing a new and innovative way to brush teeth.
Project Overview
Cjoy Isense Smart Electric Toothbrush has been a Bronze winner in the Beauty, Personal Care and Cosmetic Products Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition.
