Unique Properties
This home tea sideboard adheres to the principles of simplicity and restraint, with a plain yet elegant appearance and multifunctional storage areas, dedicated to providing users with an elegant and tidy tea-making environment. The classic and versatile design helps to blend into various home environments easily, and the use of wooden materials adds a natural touch. The integrated design of the countertop and herringbone struts section the functional areas by shape, and the double-layer countertop ensures sufficient storage space.

Design Challenge
Compared with homogenized competitors, this product conveys a new interpretation of tea sideboards, showing admiration to simplicity and restraint. By eliminating the bulky square cabinet-style structure, it adopts a double-layer octagonal countertop with the body that has grille strip sliding doors and is supported by herringbone struts on the side to form a unique style. Different functional areas also offer multifunctional storage solutions to satisfy users’ needs.
Project Duration
Launched in February 2023 and completed in May 2023 in Hangzhou.
Operation Flow
Equipped with grille strip sliding doors, it allows users to easily open and close along the track with the full display of the wood grain. This not only saves the space but also presents a light and elegant beauty. The double-layer countertop treated with a concave surface, and the center of pressure of the countertop positioned behind the center of gravity prevent falling issues. The simple components allow users to assemble the product themselves.
Research
Traditional wooden home sideboards often have a square and heavy appearance, lacking a sense of mobility. Moreover, their doors are mainly drawn and opened, which takes up a lot of space when opening, making it an improper choice for small-sized dwellings. Thus, the design team chose the refined black walnut and endowed the product with a simple and versatile design. The storage cabinet uses grille strip sliding doors, which can be opened and closed with easy push and pull on both sides.
Inspiration
Inspired by modern tea lovers, the tea sideboard focuses on the aesthetics of the tea-making environment and the storage functions. The team simplified the design with simple components to create an extremely simple and elegant tea sideboard. The overall material adopts North American black walnut with clear wood grains, adding a natural touch. The double-layer countertop and sideboard body ensure sufficient storage space, rendering a sense of order for different tea sets.
Project Overview
Rong Tea Edge Cabinet has been a Silver winner in the Furniture Design award category in the year 2023 organized by the prestigious A' Design Award & Competition. The Silver A' Design Award celebrates top-tier designs that embody excellence and innovation. This award acknowledges creations that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also highly functional, reflecting the designer's deep understanding and skill.
