Tone Collection takes its inspiration from the Mediterranean and the lands surrounding it. Bringing together the deep cultural heritage of the coastal countries by combining the rhythm of music, local dance, and calm waves with memorable tones of Mediterranean landscapes, the collection promises an experience specific to Coastal Boutique and Fine Dining Restaurants.

Unique Properties

The new mildly scalloped, mediterranean inspired, vitrified collection by Bonna; comes with 3 well matched reactive glazes. Sahara, Blush, and Adelfa. With minimal energy consumption during production, Bonna's new premium vitrified body used in Tone has nearly same durability values as porcelain and almost zero water absorption. Therefore, besides the ceramic workshop feel and sustainability , the collection also fullfills the main requirements of Horeca sector; such as functional sizes and volumes, long life cycle and stackability; by which excelling competitors.

Production Technology

All Tone collection members are made of premium vitrifed body. With minimal energy consumption and low carbon emissions during production, Tone is an environmentally friendly product family with Bonna’s once fired premium vitrified body. Its ceramic workshop feel, durability and stackability compared to ceramic products provide a visually pleasing, functional, long life and environmentally satisfying experience.

Design Challenge

To combine a hand made ceramic feeling with a mass produced product family is a real challenge for a design process like in Tone collection. The main goal was to have better results in terms of sustainability, stackability and longer life span due to harder material and glazes compared to similar ceramic products.

Project Duration

The project took around 6 months to design and see the productions of first prototypes at second half of 2023. It is exhibited in 2024 Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt first.

Operation Flow

The collection promises an experience specific to Coastal Boutique and Casual Fine Dining Restaurants. Besides providing a visually pleasing ceramic workshop feel and sustainability , the collection also fullfills the main requirements of Horeca sector; such as functional sizes and volumes for a wide variety of occasions, long life cycle and stackability; by which excelling other ceramic products. Design aims to offer perfect solutions to many different environments with its easily adaptable, slightly abstract design language. Also perfectly matched with round scalloped dishes and amorph complementaries of Bonna and other companies; which gives the user open end mix&match compatibility.

Research

Having online and face to face surveys with sector professionals, chefs and restaurant owners before and through the design process for feedbacks and a valuable starting point gave the product family a solid foundation for real needs in terms of dimensions and visual integrity. The mediterranean inspiration also lead to reflect the design language from local to global perspective easily.

Inspiration

Tone Collection takes its inspiration from the Mediterranean and the lands surrounding it. Bringing together the deep cultural heritage of the coastal countries by combining the rythm of music, local dance and calm waves with memorable tones of Mediterranean landscapes, the collection promises an experience specific to Coastal Boutique and Fine Dining Restaurants. Organic form of Tone collection takes inspiration from scalloped sea shells as well as flamenco dresses and waves of Mediterranean.
